We have officially poured our first elevated deck! When you are driving by the site you will now start to see the structure of the building.
Once the deck has been formed, the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Trade partners complete their layout. This is where they layout the outlets, toilets and other necessary items on the deck before it is poured. You can see the layout of their item in the picture below.

Our building is using Post Tension (PT) Concrete for the elevated decks. This is where the tendons are placed in the concrete and then pulled to a tension after the concrete has hardened. The prestressing force is mostly transferred to the anchors at the end of the tendons. The blue tendons in the image are all of the PT cables.

The sequence of installing rebar, formwork, pouring columns and decks will continue up the building over the next several months. You will see a regular cycle of trucks driving on and off site as rebar and concrete are put in place and bringing all this material on site SAFELY!
Also scheduled for installation in February is our outdoor elevator - also known as a manlift. This will allow us to safely transport workers and materials to each floor.

Meet a team member! Steve is our Crane Operator and been doing this for 23 years. He got into the profession of crane operating because it is what his father did! He has a pretty cool office view sitting about 290' in the air. When you look up at the Tower Crane next time, give Steve a wave!
